Honoring the contribution of pollinators to agriculture – this is what National Pollinator Week (16-22 June) is about. The Bayer Bee Care team joined the celebration with congressional and community events.
Hosting a Congressional reception in Washington D.C, Bayer gathered officials and others who are interested in learning more about bee health and the importance of pollinators. Addressing the illustrious guests, Monty Christian, Vice President of U.S. Cotton Operations at Bayer CropScience LP, highlighted the rationale of Bayer’s engagement in National Pollinator Week: "Bayer strongly believes that education and collaboration are essential to increasing support for pollinator health. National Pollinator Week provides us with a forum to connect with interested stakeholders and the broader community to celebrate the value of pollinators to sustainable agriculture."
Bayer's National Pollinator Week events also included the planting of a bee-friendly garden at SEED Public Charter School of Washington, D.C. The pollinator garden will offer forage for local honey bees, and provide a great opportunity to teach students and the community about the importance of pollinators and the role they play in our lives.
Bayer will donate $10,000 over two years to the school for the maintenance of the garden.
